    Select a discrepancy family

    The test lead chooses recurring ground-test questions with completed reviews. Agree which article, fixture and measurement changes would make a comparison inappropriate.

    Freeze the evaluation record

    Collect approved historical run packages and preserve their original identifiers. The configuration owner identifies the baseline that applied when each run occurred.

    Reconstruct, with gaps visible

    Evaluate a proposed read-only view against the recorded sequence. Separate observed trace changes from suggested explanations and unavailable supporting records.

    Compare with engineering review

    Have the test and metrology reviewers check attribution, review effort and omitted context. Carry forward only the findings their evidence supports.

A civil aerospace laboratory repeats a ground-based thermal test. The article configuration is unchanged, but one measurement channel now reads differently from an earlier run.

Preserve the connection.

An evidence view would place the sensor replacement, acquisition setup and procedure revision beside both traces. It would mark missing calibration context instead of silently treating the two measurements as equivalent.

The test engineer checks run comparability; a metrology specialist assesses measurement provenance and uncertainty. The designated review authority decides whether more evidence or an authorized retest is needed.

Evaluated runs with all agreed configuration, procedure and measurement references present, divided by the evaluated run count. Report missing references by type.
02Discrepancy reconstruction time
Reviewer time to assemble a checkable history for the same predefined cases using the current process and the proposed evidence view. Keep unresolved cases in the results.
03Correct source attribution
Proposed configuration or measurement links confirmed by reviewers, divided by all proposed links. Also count known changes the view failed to surface.

Be precise about the scope.

Engineering disposition stays with the program

A linked record cannot establish airworthiness, acceptance or a root cause. The program’s authorized engineers own test interpretation, acceptance criteria and discrepancy closure.

A calibration label is not the whole chain

NIST distinguishes a traceable measurement result from merely owning a calibrated instrument. Preserve the measurement process and uncertainty evidence; do not turn a document match into a certification claim.

Ground-based, read-only scope

Use an approved export from one ground-test workflow. RAIN has no demonstrated aerospace integration, flight function or mission-control capability; its implemented foundation remains battery simulation.

Local processing is one design choice. The organization would still need to determine access permissions, deployment requirements and whether a study is appropriate for its records.
